News & Notes From Around The ABL

Playoff Page

The playoff teams have been finalized with the seeding in the NL complete. First round of the NL will have the Padres playing  the Giants while the Pirates await the winner of this series. In the AL, the Royals have locked up the #1 seed while the A's and Red Sox will battle it out for #2 & #3. 2nd seed gets home-field advantage for the first series (7 game).

The Padres Oliver Perez throws his 2nd No-Hitter on 08/24/05 against the Astros. In the 4-0 victory, Perez faced the minimum 27 batters while throwing 125 pitches. The only runner to reach base was a leadoff walk in the 2nd inning that was quickly erased with a 6-4-3 double play to end the inning. Perez sat down 24 consecutive batters. Perez's first no hitter came back on 06/20/05 against the Blue Jays in a 3-0 victory. In this game, Perez would walk 4 and face 3 over the minimum. With his first no hitter, Perez pushed his record to 11-5, but since then, he has gone on an unfortunate tailspin going 2-6 since then before throwing his gem on 08/24/05. Perez is the only pitching in ABL history to throw a No No and now he has 2.
